Description

Newport. Isle of Wight Remembered

by Bill Shepard

Published; IOW Natural History Soc

Hard Backed

 Signed First Edition 1984

Limited Edition No 83

Bill Shepard is a dedicated Newportonian. Born and bred in the town, with which his family has had a long association, his working life has been spent in the service of his fellow citizens of Newport, where he still lives in happy retirement.
It is, however, for his wider interests that he will be most remembered, particularly by those who have been fortunate enough to enjoy his company on botanical excursions or, more especially, on his “walk-abouts” in and around Newport, with an anecdote at every turn, much of which has been distilled in this volume.
He has a wide interest and knowledge of many branches of natural history, and is the Isle of Wight Botanical Recorder for the Botanical Society of the British Isles, coauthor of the. Flora of the Isle of Wight (1978) and many supplementary “Habitat Studies” associated with that work, together with other publications.
