This book is a joint venture with his close friend and business associate, Ted Smith. The raid on Celtic Wood by the Australians in October of 1917 has intrigued both of them for many years and they decided that this fateful action had to be recorded in print. Their working together on this volume has prompted a series of such works for the future. Their next publication will be a new format guide to the battlefields based on a series of ‘pen pictures’ of individuals and actions on the fields of the Somme, Picardy and Flanders. Tony is a single man, still living in the London area and, since 1970, has worked as an inspecting engineer in the London offices of a large New Zealand group prominent in the paper and forestry industry. Besides the Great War, Tony’s other passions are military research, association football and traditional jazz.
