The Sergeant of the Princess Louise’s Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders, whose portrait in full uniform , may be taken as typical of the Highland soldier of to-day. His famous regiment, better known perhaps under its old numerical title, the ” 93rd,” is one of the most distinguished in the Queen’s service, and has won laurels on many a hard-fought field, from Corunna and the Peninsula War, to the Alma and Balaclava (where the 93rd formed Sir COLIN CAMPBELL’S ” Thin Red Line “), the Relief 0f Lucknow, and still more recently, the Zulu War of 1879. c1896
